With so much social divisiveness and side-taking in the world today, I'm eager to share songs that encourage unity and communication. "Family", the first single and lead-off track from my upcoming album, Ridin', is that kind of song. To my delight, thanks to producer Glen Scott's total command of the vernacular of Soul, this funky track turned into a tribute to Sly & The Family Stone. I'm playing a vintage 6-string banjo and in the intro I quote an old song, Two Brothers, which tells the story of siblings who fought on opposing sides during the American Civil War. It's seemed fitting.
Tracks:
1.1 Family
1.2 Ridin'
1.3 Blues Funky Like Dat (FT. Taj Mahal ; Jontavious Willis)
1.4 The Ballad of John Howard Griffin (FT. Russell Malone)
1.5 500 Miles
1.6 Tulsa Town
1.7 Onwards (Interlude)
1.8 Hold the Line (FT. Russell Malone)
1.9 I Got My Own (FT. Amar Sundy)
1.10 Call Me By My Name (FT. Harrison Kennedy)
1.11 Joybells
1.12 Sinner Man with Eric Bibb String Band (Live at Wheatland Festival)
1.13 Free (FT. Habib Koit)
