Chick's brilliant trio album from 1968, Now He Sings, Now He Sobs is held in the same kind of rarefied esteem as the classic Bill Evans trio sessions. One listen will tell you why... The exquisite interplay between Chick, Czech bassist Miroslav Vitous and drum master Roy Haynes make it abundantly clear why this album has achieved such legendary status among jazz piano trio recordings. Now He Sing's, Now He Sobs features a program of all Corea compositions including the first recording of Matrix, one of Corea's most beloved tunes.

Tracks:
1.1 Steps - What Was (Side A)
1.2 Matrix (Side A)
1.3 Now He Sings - Now He Sobs (Side B)
1.4 Now He Beats the Drum - Now He Stops (Side B)
1.5 The Law of Falling and Catching Up (Side B)
Title: Return to Forever
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Ecm Records
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 602527278841
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2015-11-13
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: 180 GRAM VINYL

Limited 180 gram vinyl LP pressing. Return to Forever is a 1972 jazz fusion album by Chick Corea, simultaneously functioning as the debut album by the band of the same name. Unlike later albums by the group, it was released by the ECM label and produced by Manfred Eicher. The album was not released in the USA until 1975. The record is often considered one of the classic albums in electric jazz. At this stage Corea's approach to jazz fusion was very different compared to other early fusion artists. Adventurous electric piano solos are backed with South American oriented rhythms of drummer Airto Moreira and the vocals and percussion of his wife Flora Purim. Stanley Clarke is the bassist of the group (playing electric bass on A-side and double bass on B-side) and Joe Farrell plays flute and saxophone. This first line-up of Return to Forever consists of musicians (excluding Joe Farrell and Flora Purim) that were also playing on Stan Getz's album Captain Marvel that was released in the same year.

Tracks:

Chick Corea: Now He Sings. With their electrifying performances and innovative blend of jazz fusion, the group produced a series of albums that set the bar for excellence in contemporary jazz. Featuring a core lineup of virtuosic musicians - John Patitucci on bass, Dave Weckl on drums, Eric Marienthal on saxophone and Frank Gambale on guitar - the group created a dynamic and electrifying sound that came to define the jazz fusion style. Chick Corea's first unaccompanied album initiated the solo piano idiom at ECM, and proved to be extremely influential. Alongside music created in the moment, some powerful melodies are explored here, not least that of "Sometime Ago" soon to be a theme song for the Return To Forever band. For The Elektric Band's sophomore outing, Chick Corea - the venerated 27-time Grammy winner and National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master - entered the studio with Dave Weckl on drums, John Patitucci on bass, and two new players who would solidify the band's classic line up, guitarist Frank Gambale and saxophonist Eric Marienthal. More heavily produced than it's predecessor, Light Years contains several sequence-driven tracks, Corea's attempt at reaching out to a wider audience with a brand of music that was tighter, funkier and eminently more communicative than he had recorded on 1986's The Chick Corea Elektric Band. The crisp, irrepressibly catchy title track is a prime example of Corea's more commercial aspirations for the album, with Patitucci laying down a fat, funky groove with some hearty slap bass lines (a distinct flavor of the time), and Marienthal's pungent alto sax strutting over the top. Not only did this groove-oriented track catch on with listeners, it also won a Grammy for Best R&B Instrumental Performance at the 31st Annual Grammy Awards. Originally released on GRP Records in 1987, the album also contains the dreamy contemporary jazz offerings of "Second Sight" and "The Dragon," the sequence-driven "Time Track", "Flamingo," featuring Carlos Rios on guitar and, the electrifying, techno tour de force, highly complex closer, "Kaleidoscope."

Tracks:

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0914/0758/1520/files/4347220-3189637_18d56ed1-9365-4834-9bc1-839f34567ded.jpg?v=1788126563
corea-chick-return-to-forever-shm-sacd-super-audio-cd
Chick Corea: Return To Forever (SHM-SACD) - SUPER-AUDIO CD
Title: Return To Forever (SHM-SACD)
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Universal Japan
Product Type: SUPER-AUDIO CD
UPC: 4988031431160
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2021-07-02
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: JAPAN - IMPORT, DIRECT STREAM DIGITAL, SUPER-HIGH MATERIAL CD

SHM-SACD discs are fully compatible with standard Super Audio CD players, but they do not play on regular CD players. This 1981 album by prolific jazz and fusion artist Chick Corea is one of his most enduring titles, full of passionate interplay between saxophonist Michael Brecker, bassist Eddie Gómez and drummer Steve Gadd. Though the pianist's arrangements are fully modern jazz, Corea was initially inspired by classical compositions for string quartets when writing the suite. "Quartet No. 1" uses a one-chord (G altered) solo vamp over a rock beat in 3/4, and a repeated theme that uses stacked fourths. The second track, "Quartet No. 2 (Part I)" is a ballad, dedicated to jazz pioneer Duke Ellington, incorporating many of the Western classical harmonies and tensions that Ellington used in much of his playing. "Quartet No. 2 (Part II)" is dedicated to jazz saxophone legend John Coltrane.

Tracks:
1.1 Quartet No.1 Chick Corea 10:15
1.2 Quartets No.3 ; 2 Chick Corea 9:41
2.1 Quartet No.2, Part 1 Chick Corea 7:09
2.2 Part 2 Chick Corea 12:02
Title: Paint The World
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Candid
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 708857330713
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2024-06-28
Number of Discs: 2
Additional Details: DELUXE EDITION, GATEFOLD LP JACKET

Double vinyl LP pressing. In 1993 Chick Corea - the venerated 27-time Grammy winner and National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master - unveiled the second incarnation of the Elektric Band. With the brand new lineup of guitarist Mike Miller, bassist Jimmy Earl and drummer Gary Novak, and saxophonist Eric Marienthtal (the lone holder over from the first iteration of the Elektric Band,) Corea, approached this ambitious outing in the same way he had done everything throughout his career, by pushing the boundaries of what modern jazz is. With material written with these specific players in mind, Corea gathered this group of remarkably flexible musicians into Mad Hatter Studios in Los Angeles. Recorded almost entirely live in first takes, the album is notable for it's "less is more" approach to Corea's particular style of genre bending composition. Though the focus may have been more on acoustic piano than synths, the same proficiency, spontaneity, impeccable execution and jaw-dropping display of chops that characterize the five first Elektric Band albums applies. Of special note here is the inclusion of the track "Final Frontier", originally released exclusively on the Japanese and European editions. This all out burner is the lone tune on the record featuring Corea on a synthesizer. Written as an answer to "Got A Match" from 1986's The Chick Corea Elektric Band album, it's an uptempo showcase for the players to stretch out and the kind of track that exemplifies the jazz fusion that Corea and his groups came to define. This 2 disc vinyl LP reissue comes with new detailed liner notes by jazz writer Bill Milkowski, providing context and filling out the listening experience with lush technical notes.

Tracks:
1.1 Paint the World
1.2 Blue Miles
1.3 Tone Poem
1.4 C.T.A
1.5 Silhouette
1.6 Space
1.7 The Ant ; the Elephant
1.8 Tumba Island
1.9 Ritual
1.10 Ished
1.11 Spanish Sketch
1.12 Final Frontier
1.13 Reprise
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0914/0758/1520/files/4339721-3180869_d832121d-8fe9-435e-a558-c85b931b8a15.jpg?v=1788126644
chick-corea-trilogy-3
Chick Corea: Trilogy 2 - COMPACT DISCS
Title: Trilogy 2
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Concord Records
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 888072122130
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2019-10-04
Number of Discs: 2

Two CD set. 2019 live release. Writing for the band's individual strengths, Corea went full throttle on Inside Out. Here we find the Elektric Band engaging in uptempo burners, prog-rock fantasia, Latin-tinged grooves and the kind of complex and characteristic tight harmonies and unisons that characterized Corea's earlier compositions of 1970s. Dedicated to his father Armando, a trumpeter who led a Dixieland band in Boston in the 1930s and 1940s, Eye of the Beholder reflected a tightening of the ensemble playing and a greater showcasing of the individual solo prowess of these consummate musicians. With this fresh sounding five-star recording, it is clear that Corea was more open to showcasing this band's collective muscle and individual virtuosity. The group rips, in no uncertain terms, on showcases like "Cascade, Part II," "Trance Dance," and the staggering "Amnesia." There are experimental excursion into the kind of atmospheric, ambient music realms that Brian Eno pioneered on "Cascade, Part 1" and may be the most profound musical statement of the collection, on par with past Corea high points, "Beauty." Originally released on GRP Records in 1988, the album is a high-water mark for Corea and his Elektric Bandmates.

Tracks:
1.1 Paint The World
1.2 Blue Miles
1.3 Tone Poem
1.4 CTA
1.5 Silhouette
1.6 Space
1.7 The Ant ; The Elephant
1.8 Tumba Island
1.9 Ritual
1.10 Ished
1.11 Spanish Sketch
1.12 Final Frontier
1.13 Reprise
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0914/0758/1520/files/4339722-3181021_25453f32-ede6-41a0-b44f-2eac2ae63f31.jpg?v=1788126703
chick-corea-return-to-forever-3
Chick Corea: Return to Forever - COMPACT DISCS
Title: Return to Forever
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Ecm Records
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 042281197826
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 1999-11-16
Number of Discs: 1

Classic titles from ECM Records now available through Universal classics.

Tracks:
1.1 Return to Forever
1.2 Crystal Silence
1.3 What Game Shall We Play Today
1.4 Sometime Ago - la Fiesta
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0914/0758/1520/files/132934_cd8b1ab5-aadf-41f1-8b0c-d69e70703b95.jpg?v=1788126712
corea-chick-chick-corea-elektric-band
Chick Corea: Chick Corea Elektric Band - Vinyl LP
Title: Chick Corea Elektric Band
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Candid
Product Type: VINYL LP
UPC: 708857330218
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2024-06-14
Number of Discs: 2
Additional Details: GATEFOLD LP JACKET

Led by the legendary pianist and composer Chick Corea - 27-time Grammy winner and National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master - The Elektric Band stormed onto the jazz scene in the mid-1980s, making an immediate and lasting impact on the genre. Made at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL in October 2020, they would be the last public concerts Corea ever gave. Not long after these performances, his health suddenly declined, and in February 2021 the world lost one of it's greatest musicians. These recordings stand as both a deeply affecting goodbye and a definitive document of the Chick Corea solo piano experience. The listener is treated to Corea's signature cascading virtuosity, technical command, and harmonic knowledge. Featuring original music ("Armando's Rhumba," a mini-recital of Children's Songs) alongside homages to some of the composers he cherished, like Monk, Powell, and Ellington. The record reflects the generosity and empathy at the core of his music.Throughout the program, Corea's uncut spoken interludes find him introducing tunes and explaining concepts in his affable, familial way, as if chatting with old friends.Mixed and mastered by long time collaborator Birnie Kirsch and presented as a 2 disc LP set in a gatefold sleeve and includes the bonus track "Pannonica". With liner notes featuring heartfelt messages from well known admirers like Alicia Keys, Herbie Hancock, Hans Zimmer, Bobby McFerrin, Stanley Clarke, Lang Lang, and more.An essential release, it is a fine and fitting end to an astounding career.

Tracks:
1.1 Chick's Welcome
1.2 Armando's Rhumba
1.3 It Could Happen to You
1.4 Overjoyed
1.5 Mozart: Piano Sonata in F, KV332 (2nd Part - Adagio)
2.1 Smoke Gets in Your Eyes
2.2 Chick Talks About Monk and Bud
2.3 'Round Midnight
2.4 Trinkle Tinkle
2.5 Pannonica (Bonus Track)
3.1 Dusk in Sandi
3.2 Waltz for Debby
3.3 In a Sentimental Mood
3.4 Chick Talks Portraits
3.5 Portrait: Sam
3.6 Chick Introduces the Next Portrait
3.7 Portrait:Terri
4.1 Chick Talks Children's Songs
4.2 Children's Song No. 1
4.3 Children's Song No. 2
4.4 Children's Song No. 10
4.5 Children's Song No. 17
4.6 Children's Song No. 19
Title: The Vigil
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Concord Records
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 888072345782
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2013-08-06
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: DIGIPACK PACKAGING

For the past half-century, on a jazz landscape that has seen it's share of twists and turns, Chick Corea has always kept the faith not just for himself, but for his peers and for the subsequent generations of musicians (and fans) whom he has inspired along the way. His unorthodox approach adds a touch of playfulness to the Mozart & Gershwin pieces performed while upholding Corea's obvious reverence for their music. His joyous fusion sets the tone for the musicians and the audience, creating a truly captivating and boundary- pushing experience. The recording captures the essence of Corea's musical vision, his appreciation for classical traditions, and his undeniable genius as a performer and improviser. It stands as a testament to his lasting influence and his eternal quest to push the boundaries of music. Through his work as a composer and a performer, he sought to bridge the gap between genres, embracing the universality and enduring power of classical music. Corea realized this ambition fully during this live performance as was eager to release the recording as an album that would inspire jazz and classical music lovers equally. 1. Mozart Intro 1:31 2. Originally released on GRP Records in 1987, the album also contains the dreamy contemporary jazz offerings of "Second Sight" and "The Dragon," the sequence-driven "Time Track", "Flamingo," featuring Carlos Rios on guitar and, the electrifying, techno tour de force, highly complex closer, "Kaleidoscope." Produced by Corea, with longtime engineering partner Bernie Kirsch, the album features detailed liner notes by jazz writer Bill Milkowski, giving context and explicit technical notes to the listening experience.

Tracks:
1.1 Light Years
1.2 Second Sight
1.3 Flamingo
1.4 Prism
1.5 Time Track
1.6 Starlight
1.7 Your Eyes
1.8 The Dragon
1.9 View From The Outside
1.10 Smokescreen
1.11 Hymn Of The Heart
1.12 Kaleidoscope
Title: The Spanish Heart Band (SHM-CD)
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Universal Japan
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 4988031336892
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2019-07-12
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: JAPAN - IMPORT, SUPER-HIGH MATERIAL CD

Japanese SHM-CD pressing. This 'trio' record really pulls you into the music with an intense drive, inventive and creativity not so easy to find in the latter records by Corea. The playing on this session is amazing. At the age of 27 at the time, Chick was already a mature and important player and composer. This is the first of the early trio albums, featuring Roy Haynes on drums and Miroslav Vitouš on acoustic bass. The additional tracks are all very interesting and add a lot to the album. This re-issue concludes with a beautiful rendition of "My One and Only Love" that demonstrates both the place of this trio in jazz tradition as well as it's uniqueness.

Tracks:
1.1 Step-What Was
1.2 Matrix
1.3 Now He Sings, Now He Sobs
1.4 Now He Beats The Drum, Now He Stops
1.5 The Law Of Falling And Catching Up
1.6 Samba Yantra
1.7 Bossa
1.8 I Don’t Know
1.9 Fragments
1.10 Windows
1.11 Gemini
1.12 Pannonica
1.13 My One And Only Love
Title: Trio Music
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Ecm
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 601215945423
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2001-01-30
Number of Discs: 1
Additional Details: SPAIN - IMPORT

Tracks:
1.1 Trio Improvisation 1
1.2 Trio Improvisation 2
1.3 Trio Improvisation 3
1.4 Duet Improvisation 1
1.5 Duet Improvisation 2
1.6 Trio Improvisation 4
1.7 Trio Improvisation 5
1.8 Slippery When Wet
1.9 Rhythm-A-Ning
1.10 'Round Midnight
1.11 Eronel
1.12 Think of One
1.13 Little Rootie Tootie
1.14 Reflections
1.15 Hackensack
Title: Light As a Feather
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: Polygram Records
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 042282714824
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 1990-10-25
Number of Discs: 1

Tracks:
1.1 You're Everything
1.2 Light As a Feather
1.3 Captain Marvel
1.4 500 Miles High
1.5 Children's Song
1.6 Spain
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0914/0758/1520/files/182717_dfd6d881-ecd5-46e1-80f0-397fe7fb8ffc.jpg?v=1788126993
chick-corea-chick-corea-the-montreux-years-1
Chick Corea: Chick Corea: The Montreux Years - COMPACT DISCS
Title: Chick Corea: The Montreux Years
Artist: Chick Corea
Label: BMG Rights Managemen
Product Type: COMPACT DISCS
UPC: 4050538800463
Genre: Jazz
Release Date: 2022-09-23
Number of Discs: 1

Chick Corea: The Montreux Years showcases some of the legendary pianist's remarkable Montreux Jazz Festival live performances.

1.5 Piano Sonata in F Major, K. 322: II.

Tracks:
1.1 Mozart Intro
1.2 Mozart Piano Concerto No. 24 in C Minor, K.491: I.
